Ham and Pineapple Topnots

Ingredients

4 rounds ham steaks or 4 (2oz) pieces cooked ham
4 crumpets or rounds of bread
4 oz Scottish Cheddar cheese (grated)
½ level tspn. mustard powder
4 dessertspoons of milk
4 pineapple rings
Watercress

 

  1. Slowly grill the ham steaks. Toast the crumpets at the same time.
  2. Mix the cheese, mustard and milk together to form a paste. Spread the paste on top of each toasted crumpet and grill until golden brown.
  3. Place the grilled ham steaks on top of the toasted cheese and crown with the rings of pineapple. Heat through under the grill. Top with sprigs of watercress.

NB
The combination of the fruit with the hot cheese is delicious. Try peach or pear halves instead as a change.
