Danish Meat Fritter Cakes

Ingredients

½ lb stewing beef
½ lb pie pork
3 oz onions
4 oz plain flour
Salt and pepper
1 egg (beaten)
½ pint of milk
Fat or oil for frying

 

  1. Mince the beef, pork and onions together.
  2. Sieve the flour, salt and pepper into a bowl. Gradually blend in the beaten egg and milk to make a smooth batter.
  3. Stir the minced meat mixture into the batter and leave aside for about ½ an hour.
  4. Slowly heat the fat or oil, ¼ inch deep, in a frying pan.
  5. Spoon rounded tablespoons of the mixture into the hot fat. Lower heat and fry fritter cakes for approximately 15 minutes, turning them from time to time, until the batter is crisp and the meat is cooked through.
